Write an attractive headline
You can consider this as the most significant part of an article. That’s because the headline plays a major role in determining the fact whether your audience will be intrigued enough to read your article or not.
Remember that you have to catch the attention of the readers at moment’s notice. Your headline has to play that role. So try and make it as catchy and relevant as possible.
Your first 3 sentences are probably your only chance of keeping the reader hooked
After completion of the first step, you have to pay special attention to your first 3 sentences as closely as possible.
The first 3 sentences play a significant role in determining the fact whether your readers are going to read the entire content or not. So if you want to keep your readers hooked to your article, the 1st 3 sentences are probably your only chance.
Do a thorough research
Extensive knowledge of the topic is a must. The facts and figures must be as precise as possible with proper (hyperlinked) sources to back them up.
Your content should also include things like statistics, metrics and data to establish your credibility. And like it’s said before, proper and trustworthy sources should be hyperlinked to support the relevance of such data.
Your article should have at least one significant message
Before delving deep into writing, you should chalk out at least one significant message that you want to convey to your readers through your article. Remember, that this has to be done in your initial research.
Keep your article tied to that important message as closely as possible.
Your content should have a unique voice of its own
Do remember that the piece of content you are going to publish is the voice of the company you represent. Hence, it MUST match your company’s personality.
Keep your writing tone aligned to your brand personality, target readers and business goals.
Optimization is necessary
Optimizing your article is a must. Carefully optimized article are easy to read and easy to comprehend.
Some of the best criteria of digital contents are short paragraphs, bulleted lists and short sentences. The articles should be carefully optimized for effective search engine results using SEO friendly practices and strategies.
After compiling the draft of your matter, you should go back to it and check it thoroughly from the start to the end.

A Few Thumb Rules…
Write short sentences. An average sentence should generally have around 6 to 12 words. Although some may definitely be longer or shorter.
Write short and simple paragraphs. No paragraph should have more than 3-4 sentences at the very most.
A 500 word article should ideally have around 6 to 7 subheadings. A 1000 word article should double the amount and so on. Although, it can be less or more depending upon the circumstances.
Write short and crisp sentences that are easy to comprehend and accurate at the same time. These should also be right to the point.

Your content must be interactive in nature as if you are talking to your reader. It should NOT look like a bland piece of information unless the situation calls for such a piece.
DO NOT stuff keywords.
Always write informative, detailed, factual and well-researched write ups that are engaging, educating as well as interesting to read.
Be FUNNY as much as possible.
Try and include a section of bulleted points in each of your write up.
And last but not the least, DO NOT promote anything directly. DO NOT sell anything.
